01  What it is

Beauty that begins with a healthy, living tooth.

“Vital” means alive. Vital aesthetics is our name for cosmetic dentistry that keeps your teeth vital - preserving the enamel, the dentine and the nerve - while improving shape, colour and proportion. It is the meeting point of biological dentistry and confident, natural-looking design.

Rather than reaching for crowns that demand heavy grinding, we work additively. We bond directly to the surface of the tooth, rebuild worn or chipped edges with tooth-coloured composite, and reserve full-ceramic veneers for cases where they genuinely add value - always with the least preparation the result allows. Well-made composite and ceramic restorations are designed to stay comfortable and attractive for years, and because the approach is additive they can usually be polished or refreshed over time without losing healthy tooth structure.

  • Tooth-preserving and minimally invasive by design.
  • 100% metal-free composite and full-ceramic materials.
  • Colour and translucency matched to your natural teeth.
  • A look that suits your face - never a generic “Hollywood” template.

Your treatment is carried out by Dmitri Klass, a registered German dentist and member of the Zahnärztekammer Schleswig-Holstein. If dental visits make you anxious, that is welcome to know - the pace is calm and unhurried, and nothing happens until you feel ready.

02  The principle

Add, don't subtract.

Every millimetre of healthy enamel is worth keeping. The less we remove today, the more your teeth can carry you for decades - and the more natural the result will always look.

04  Adhesive bonding

The most conservative way to change a smile.

Bonding uses a tooth-coloured composite that we sculpt directly onto the tooth and harden with light. Because it adheres to the surface, the great majority of cases need little or no drilling - and no anaesthetic. It is ideal for a chipped edge, a small gap between front teeth, or a tooth that looks shorter or worn next to its neighbours.

The material is shaped, layered and polished in a single appointment, so you leave with the result the same day. Should you ever want a different look in future, additive bonding keeps your options open - there is little or no lost tooth to regret.

  • Often no drilling and no anaesthetic.
  • Completed in one visit, same-day result.
  • Repairable and reversible - your tooth stays intact.

05  Biomimetic composite

Restorations that behave like a real tooth.

“Biomimetic” simply means imitating nature. When we rebuild a tooth with composite, we recreate its layered structure - a firmer core and a translucent surface - so it flexes and reflects light the way a healthy tooth does. That reduces stress at the bond and helps the restoration, and the tooth around it, last.

Tooth-coloured composite is also the natural choice when replacing old, dark amalgam fillings. If that is your reason for coming, our protocol-based safe amalgam removal pairs perfectly with a metal-free composite restoration in the same plan.

  • Metal-free, tooth-coloured and biocompatible.
  • Preserves the maximum amount of natural tooth.
  • A direct, single-visit replacement for old amalgam fillings.

08  Who it is for

Right for you if…

Vital aesthetics suits people who want their smile to look better without sacrificing healthy tooth structure - and who care that the materials in their mouth are kind to the rest of the body.

  • You have chipped, worn, uneven or slightly gapped front teeth.
  • You want to brighten or reshape a smile, but keep it natural.
  • You would rather replace old amalgam with metal-free composite.
  • You are sensitive to metals or simply prefer a biological approach.
  • You want a second opinion before agreeing to crowns or heavy grinding.

If straightening the teeth themselves would help, gentle clear aligner therapy can come first, so the aesthetic work that follows is even more conservative.

09  Questions

Good to know about vital aesthetics.

Vital aesthetics is biological cosmetic dentistry that improves the look of your smile while keeping as much living, healthy tooth structure as possible. Instead of grinding teeth down for crowns, we use adhesive bonding, composite build-ups and minimally prepared full-ceramic restorations - all metal-free.

Conventional cosmetic dentistry often removes a lot of enamel to fit crowns or thick veneers. Vital aesthetics is additive and minimally invasive: we bond to the surface of the tooth wherever possible, preserve the nerve and the natural structure, and use biocompatible, metal-free materials.

Many bonding and composite treatments need little or no drilling, so they are often carried out with little or no anaesthetic. Where a tooth is prepared for a ceramic veneer, gentle local anaesthesia keeps the appointment comfortable.

Yes. We work exclusively with metal-free composites and full-ceramic materials, chosen for how the body tolerates them. For patients with sensitivities we can discuss material selection in advance as part of our biological approach.

Yes. Before any treatment we plan the result together and, where helpful, show a mock-up so you can see and approve the shape and proportions first. Treatment only begins once the design reflects what you want.

Yes. Consultations and treatment can be carried out in English. The practice is at Hauptstraße 50 in Bad Schwartau, a short distance from Lübeck, and we regularly care for international patients.

Longevity varies from person to person and depends on the individual tooth, your bite and everyday habits, so no firm figure can be promised. Well-made, biomimetic composite is designed to flex and wear much like natural enamel, and one advantage of an additive approach is that a restoration can usually be polished, repaired or refreshed over time without sacrificing healthy tooth structure. Good home care and regular check-ups help any restoration serve you well.

Because every smile is different, we do not quote fixed prices online. After an examination and a conversation about your goals, you receive an individual, itemised written estimate that sets out the proposed steps and materials - with no obligation to proceed. If you live abroad, we can prepare an initial, non-binding remote estimate from clear photos before you travel. Patients from the EU may be able to seek reimbursement from their own health system under the EU Cross-Border Healthcare Directive (2011/24/EU); the details depend on your national rules, so please check with your insurer.

Yes. For international and English-speaking patients we offer a remote consultation: send us a few clear photos of your smile and tell us what you would like to change, and we will share an initial, non-binding assessment and a possible plan in English before you make the trip to Bad Schwartau. A full clinical examination is always carried out in person before any treatment begins.
